Teaching at Langley

At The Langley School, our faculty, staff, and administrators are the heart and soul of all that we do. Beautiful buildings, state-of-the-art technologies, and a robust, inquiry-based curriculum would have no impact on children without dedicated, talented personnel to shape and guide their learning.

Our team is made up of a diverse group of experts who are committed to helping young people grow academically, socially, and emotionally while nurturing and supporting every child. They come from different backgrounds and generations, and bring their own unique experiences and talents. They are lifelong learners and innovators who are motivated by a growth mindset, always looking to hone their craft. They empower students to ask questions and find solutions as they prepare them to be independent, curious learners and thinkers.

When I ask teachers what keeps them at the Langley School, they talk about three things. And the first is always their colleagues.

I think what's wonderful about Langley is the faculty and staff and just the moments that we have to connect with each other, really having time to think about how we're best-supporting students.

I've been at Langley for 19 years and having the ability to influence what is taught in the classroom, it allows me to bring my passion and background into the classroom and that enthusiasm trickles down to the students.

Secondly, they often mention professional development. We have very intentionally designed professional development opportunities for the whole faculty and staff.

I am the recipient of a graduate degree. I would not have had the opportunity to do that without that, that financial support from Langley.

Really whatever is of interest and sort of the teacher is passionate about, there are wonderful opportunities to get engaged in that type of outside PD.

Finally, teachers here talk about our whole caring community, whether it's their colleagues, the families, their students, it's an incredibly warm, friendly community.

Being a small school, we can we really get to know the kids and their friendships and the ways that we can support them both in the good and the sometimes challenging that comes up in their relationships.

The Leopard Cubs Program at Langley is a game changer.

It's a program starting at six weeks specifically for our employees. It's year-round.

I have two young children who attend our Leopard Cubs Program and so that is an unbelievable benefit.

I can't think of another place where that kind of opportunity would exist. And I'm really thankful to Langley for that.
