Here at the Langley School, we have a number of specials and they are often the most popular classes, some of our students experience.
I am really excited about strings and band. This year, we're picking our first instruments, which is a really big deal because it's our first time. So I'm picking the trumpet, and I'm super excited to play it.
We have a specialist teaching music in every grade from preschool through eighth grade. And all of our students get to participate in concerts and other performances throughout the year. One of our really special specials is called "STEAM."
From kindergarten through eighth grade, our science, technology, math, arts -- are all focused on giving students skills so that they can be collaborative critical thinkers that can solve problems using multiple different inputs, giving them the skills to almost be MacGyver-like.
The Langley School's World Language Program begins in primary school, that sixth graders they're really choosing one language to go forward through all of middle school.
Art, I really like being creative and drawing and painting different things. And in a music and drama, you get to learn songs, which I really love. And for drama, you get to like participate in plays, you get to act, you get to do a bunch of different games, and it's really, really fun.
And that opportunity to take on new kinds of challenges together -- sometimes in a relatively low-stakes environment -- really allows children to be creative and to learn how to work in teams to solve problems.
